TPAN’s Bar-lesque Launches February 1
Written by Press Release Thursday, 28 January 2010 20:35
On February 1, contestants representing 17 community businesses will begin their efforts vying for the title of “Chicago’s Sexiest” while raising money for Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) in its month-long, online strip-a-thon fundraiser, “Bar-lesque”. As people visit the Bar-lesque Web site and donate money, the contestants will appear in various stages of undress. Over the course of 10 donation levels, contestants go from fully dressed to “nature’s best.”
Bar-lesque is part of TPAN’s annual burlesque event, Chicago Takes Off, which will take place March 6, at the Park West. Bar-lesque takes place online for the month of February only and can be found at www.chicagotakesoff.org/Bar-lesque.html. All money raised through Bar-lesque goes directly to the work of TPAN.
“In 2009, its first year, Bar-lesque raised more than $25,000 for TPAN,” said Chicago Takes Off Co-chair Kyle Heath. “Our goal this year is to engage a wider business community and get them excited about how this event is a unique way to support our community. It is truly gratifying to see how they’ve stepped up and given us such strong support this year.” Heath added, “This year, we’ve injected more fun and creativity into the mix. But you have to go online and donate to see the fun!”
The community businesses with contestants this year include: Angelina Ristorante, BJ Promos, The Call, Charlie’s, Cocktail, Crew, Crobar, Halsted’s, Hamburger Mary’s, Hydrate, Hunter’s, Mary’s Attic, minibar, Rebar, Scarlet, Steamworks, and Wild Pug.
“We’re thankful and ecstatic for the enormous support from the community this year,” said Chicago Takes Off Co-chair and photographer Dan Paterno. “We hope the community will donate to each of these contestants. They’re donating their time -- and bodies -- for charity!”
“Chicago’s Sexiest” will be announced at Chicago Takes Off on Saturday, March 6 at both shows, 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the Park West Theatre.
