Approval 
All advertisements are subject to MTM Chicago’s approval prior to placement on the site. MTM Chicago reviews the contents of all advertisements to ensure technical compliance with our specifications. MTM Chicago reserves the right to preserve the user experience of its sites, and reserves the right to remove any Advertisement which is deemed annoying and/or harmful to our users at any time. 

Borders on Ads
All inline ads should have a clearly visible border, either solid color or 1 pixel line.

Looping/Animation 
MTM Chicago allows animation in ad units to a limit of 15 seconds. On all properties other than the homepage MTM Chicago has no looping restriction except in cases where it may annoy our users. If you are concerned about this issue please contact your sales representative for details. 

Rapidly strobing animation can cause discomfort in users - MTM Chicago reserves the right to refuse ads that contain extremely rapid transitions and effects.

Audio in Ads 

  • Audio stream must be initiated by user click. No mouse over starts.
  • Audio stream may not exceed 30 seconds.
  • Audio must be encoded at volume less than or equal to -12 db.
  • All Ads must have clearly visible stop and start audio controls. 

Linking URL 
Linking URLs must be domain name based and cannot be the IP address, ie. http://207.123.456.78 is not allowed, but http://www.iloveturtles.com is allowed. 

Plug-In Behavior 
Users must never be prompted to download a plug-in. If plug-in is not available, then an alternative image must be served. 

Misleading Ads 
  • Advertisements cannot mislead the user. For example, they may not mimic or resemble Windows/Mac/Unix dialogue boxes, error messages, or the like.
  • Examples: Windows OS dialog boxes which say "Deleting hard drive - click to cancel".
  • Advertisements cannot resemble MTM Chicago content.
  • Advertisements cannot contain graphics that simulate interactivity (i.e. drop down menus, search boxes etc.) without that functionality actually existing. 

Advertisements cannot mimic news headlines in design, tone, 3rd person sentence structure, or topic. 

User Feedback 
MTM Chicago reserves the right to include user feedback links to survey user’s opinion. 

Cookies 
Cookies may not be set on the MTM Chicago network except by parties with a third party ad serving agreement.

1  Getting Started:  Select An Ad Size & Layout

MTM Chicago.com can accommodate almost any size ad.  Ads should be measured in pixels (px) and comply with the requirements listed above.

2  Select Your Image Format
We realize that not all businesses can afford a personal graphic designer.  We will gladly accept your ads/images in the following formats:

  • Adobe PDF (v. 8.0+)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.jpg, .png or .tif)
  • Bitmap (.jpg, .gif, .bmp-24-bit only)
  • Other formats upon request

3  Ensure You Meet The Deadline, Then Mail Away

  • All ads should be submitted by 7pm the Thursday evening prior to the desired publication week.
  • All Flash and/or JavaScript  ads should be submitted one week in advance of the desired publication week.
      Be Advised:  We reserve the right to refuse any ad that does not follow the purpose and/or goal of MTM Chicago, as well as any ad that is deemed inappropriate for this site's intended audience.
